The Handisport Foundation was born in 2005 from an idea called Handiaventuras as an entity open to those who wish to continue practicing sports and enjoying outdoor activities in the company of their friends and family.
This will or idea has been called HANDISPORT since 2007 and its philosophy is based on finding the necessary tools so that people with disabilities can carry out their favorite activities in the company of their loved ones, thus achieving a real integration into society through sport.
What is the Handisport Foundation?
The Handisport Foundation is a non-profit organization founded in 2007 with the aim of integrating people with disabilities through sport. From its projection to its launch, a group of experts in accessibility and adapted sport has been selecting the most suitable activities and spaces to offer an accessible, safe and attractive product.
The sports that we have underway are carried out both as an initiation or day leisure-sport activity, as well as continuous over time through temporary courses that allow its development (initiation, intermediate and advanced level).
Since 2007 we have consolidated 7 activities that focus our attention for which we have the specific material adapted for its correct use and, in the same way, since 2012 we are adding agreements with tourist attractions to incorporate more offers adapted to all.
But the biggest challenge we have obtained has been contact with users and the acquisition of experience in our product, since its foundation we have had a progression over time, increasing the number of services and users, which gives us an experience and real knowledge of sports practice

A key factor is the execution of the activities outdoors, giving them a more relaxed and playful nature. The union of these factors favors the motivation of the participants, facilitating the development of activities and obtaining positive results. Having approximately 200 days a year of good weather in Mallorca, we can carry them out practically all year round.
Participation in these activities leads to the strengthening and establishment of new relationships, between people with or without disabilities. Carrying out the activity of the person with a disability with whomever they wish, regardless of their abilities, is our highest definition of integration.
In some sport, such as sailing, the activity not only consists of riding on a boat, but also a series of tasks such as checking the lines, safety measures or maintenance and cleaning rear of the boat thus achieving user involvement who becomes co-responsible for the proper functioning of the activity.
Participating in a group activity implies coexistence and good coexistence is marked by respect. Respecting nature, the teacher, classmates and the rest of the people around us entails respecting the rules of coexistence and safety of activities, as well as the society in which we live.
In some sports several students, teachers, volunteers, family members participate …, this collaboration and teamwork is absolutely necessary for the activity to take place.
For example, in the case of golf, competitiveness develops at different levels, against oneself, against colleagues or against the same field. This competitiveness, well guided by a teacher depending on the moment the participant is going through, can be very beneficial to increase the desire to improve.
Handisport is a private, non-profit foundation, located in Calvià (Mallorca), which promotes and facilitates the social integration of people with disabilities through sports, both for residents and non-residents. .
The Handisport Foundation aims to become an international reference for the integration of people with disabilities through the practice of sport, offering new possibilities to this group
